ERID Venture Project 2019

ERID’s H2x reduces residential water consumption through a single-point source greywater system for single family homes. Approaching both the new home and residential remodel sectors, we will focus initially on California in order to capitalize on opportunities for scale and market concentration. H2x is an innovative Laundry to Landscape (L2L) greywater system, which incorporates particle filtration, removal of excess salts, and other chemical compounds; as well as water quality testing and monitoring to allow users to safely redirect waste water from home washers to become a source of irrigation for lawns, gardens, and green spaces. The growth rate of water prices in the US is increasing faster than the rate of inflation (1.9%, USA 2018), making water utility costs for single family homes a pressing issue. Access, distribution, and consistent availability of freshwater is also putting pressure on municipalities to incorporate water consumption reduction and water reuse into their short and medium range pla…

Level Up

The workforce is becoming more diverse than ever, yet our workplace culture is failing to keep up. Proactive, values-driven and “trailblazing” HR professionals hungrily seek specialized trainings to tackle cultural change, but might never find the perfect lead or word-of-mouth recommendation. Meanwhile, talented trainers have the right message but can’t connect with potential customers. In a market dominated by corporate training companies, these independent entrepreneurs struggle for new business. In an industry first, we match Trailblazers with Trainers, creating partnerships to spark and sustain real change. Level Up grants access for Trailblazers and empowers them with the right tools to create truly diverse, equitable and inclusive workplaces. Our Trainers grow their businesses and promote trainings on race, inclusion, equity, harassment and gender identity in ways that are dynamic, interactive and intersectional. We focus on Trailblazers in the non-profit sector (as well as B-corps and social enterpri…

They visualize compound interest and the opportunity cost of keeping their savings in the bank. An investing platform with an experiential focus, Dough emphasizes action over education by aligning spontaneous purchases with regular additions to fund the future.

ANDA

Anda is the first and only city-curated rental wardrobes for travelers. These are the essentials based on city style and trends - items every woman should have in her closet, no matter where she is. Anda offers a greater ability to be spontaneous in travel, with less to pack by delivering items to the destination, the convenience and sustainability of renting on the road, trying something new and luxurious, and local style expertise. Packing and unpacking are serious chores. It’s hard to decide what to pack, fit into a bag, and things get wrinkled. Then there’s the whole airport process of lugging around a heavy bag, endlessly waiting in lines, and paying baggage fees. Anda gives the freedom and confidence about what’s needed in a different city – and avoiding all the other headaches. Millenials are fully embracing the shared economy and not feeling the need to own things, which often means contributing to a more sustainable society - something lacking in this fast-fashion driven world. Aside from the soci…

Intone.it

The traditional music industry is undergoing an upheaval. Over the last decade, a vast number of technologies, tools, and services have been made available to musicians to help them do the jobs that record labels used to do for only a small fraction of artists. Today, more than 4 million independent musicians have the tools to record, produce, promote, and distribute their own music. This group is spending $4.5 billion on music production each year, but most of the time they end up paying too much for expensive studio infrastructure, waste time with an ill-suited producer, spend countless hours learning how to mix and master themselves, or forego music production entirely. Further complicating matters, the non-creative jobs on musicians’ plates take away from the time they want to dedicate to creating, performing, and collaborating. Fulfilling the creative dream is possible, but the process is disorganized and full of distractions. At the same time, the technologies and tools that enable musicians have also…

Yodo

Our group came together wanting to tackle a large sticky problem. One of our teammates, Lamin Mansaray, had previous experience in sustainable funeral practices. We thought the domain of death was an intriguing area for our final thesis. We were encouraged by the provocative response when we chose our topic. Our goal in this topic was for people to feel comfortable about discussing death with their loved one's who would possibly be making end-of-life decisions for them. We interviewed several experts in the area of death rituals and death planning, and they directed us to the problem of planning for the funeral and just overall talking about death. Most people we've interviewed didn't preplan for the death of their loved ones, and when the time of death did come they were overwhelmed by the quick decisions they had to make. Our service, Yodo found an opportunity that is not currently being served in the marketplace at this time. There is so much that goes into planning a funeral that is not mentioned up…

Aurora - Measuring the journey to recovery

23 million people in the US are addicted to drugs and alcohol, but only 10% receive treatment of some kind. Organizations providing drug treatment programs do not realize their full potential to help those in need due to inefficient low-tech processes and fractured communication systems. Aurora provides an online platform to facilitate the cohesion and success of drug and alcohol abuse programs to digital natives struggling with substance abuse disorder. The process of drug treatment and recovery involves a number of stakeholders and entities that get involved in rehabilitation and recovery either directly or indirectly. This service is the “quantified self” for drug rehabilitation. Aurora is a two-sided network market involving a multi-sided digital platform that creates value by enabling direct interactions between the addict and the organizations interested in the assisting in the recovery process of the addict. App user side: Our first release product is a mobile app that is loosely based on the vario…
